Investment loans are typically a vehicle with which to hold and maintain your investment asset. This is very different to an owner occupied home loan. You do not need all the bells and whistles that owner-occupier home loans have. These are generally set up as interest only loans as the interest is tax deductible and they do not generally need any additional features like redraw or an offset facility. Paying just the interest on your investment loan allows you to reduce your total monthly costs which frees up more money that you can use to pay off your original owner-occupier home loan.
